Is It Really Worth The Hype? Oriflame Milk And Honey Gold Smoothing Sugar Scrub Review

Skin Type: Normal to dry

Hey there!

Hope you are doing great! Today I am reviewing a very popular product from the house of Oriflame, that goes by the name Milk And Honey Gold Smoothing Sugar Scrub. I had heard wonderful things about this product and wanted to give it a try. It is well known that sugar is a natural exfoliator, so I picked this up some time back and have been using this regularly. So if you wish to know how was my experience with this one, stay tuned for the complete review! Let’s begin…

What The Brand Claims: Milk & Honey Gold smoothing Sugar Scrub is a luxury sugar scrub infused with organically sourced extracts of milk and honey and a natural origin exfoliant. Buffs away dead skin cells to leave skin soft, supple and wonderfully fragrant.

How To Use: Use on wet skin 1–2 times a week to gently exfoliate and nourish.
Ingredient List: Aqua, Glycerin, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Hydrated Silica, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Parfum, Sodium Hydroxide, Methylparaben, Benzophenone-4, Linalool, Sucrose, Hexyl Cinnamal, 2-Bromo-2-Nitropropane-1,3-Diol, Mel, Sine Adipe Lac, Phenoxyethanol, Ci 47005, Ci 14700, Ci 42090

Packaging: The scrub comes in a luxurious golden colored tube that looks really pretty and has a royal feel to it. It has a flip-top cap that shuts tightly with a click, thereby preventing any chances of spillage. Even though the size of the tube is huge, it is quite sturdy and safe to carry around. All the important details such as date of manufacturing, date of expiry, price, quantity and ingredient list are clearly mentioned. Overall, I really like the packaging! It is convenient to use, hygienic as well as travel friendly.

My Experience With The Product: Oriflame Milk And Honey Gold Smoothing Sugar Scrub has a gel-based formula. It contains finely milled sugar granules that are densely packed together. The product effortlessly spreads on the skin and works best on damp skin. However, you do need a good amount of product to cover the face and neck completely. I usually apply the scrub and then gently massage the face for 5-10 minutes; with more attention to areas such as nose, around the mouth and chin. One important thing that I noticed is that as you start massaging the face, the scrub starts producing foam. Now this was really surprising for me! I mean I expect this from a face wash but definitely not from a facial scrub! The only way to make it work is by not applying water while scrubbing the face, else it starts to lather up!

Anyways, once I am done with massaging the face, I always leave the product on for 5 more minutes before taking it off. I would also not recommend using it too close to the eyes as I did experience slight stinging. Next, I rinse off the product with cold water and every time, there is a lot of lather, especially if you use too much amount of product. Unfortunately, this lather does bother me and at times, gets in my mouth too! As a result, it takes a few extra minutes to remove the product completely; else it leaves a slippery feeling behind.

Once all the product is removed, I pat dry my face with a towel. The scrub effectively removes dead skin cells and the skin instantly feels clean, fresh and bright. However, I did not find it much effective in removing blackheads. In addition, it leaves the skin slightly dry, so I cannot skip the moisturizer.

Speaking of the fragrance, the scrub has a mild pleasant fragrance that is just heavenly. It is similar to the Oriflame Milk And Honey Gold Nourishing Hand And Body Cream. The scent lingers on for a while which I absolutely love! I believe this would best work for someone with normal to oily skin. Also, those with sensitive skin might find it a tad bit harsh, especially if you rub too much. The product comes in a huge tube that goes a long way. It is easily available both online as well as through Oriflame reps.

Do I Recommend This? To be honest, I had great expectations from this scrub. But I am not impressed and would not repurchase. Sure, it effectively exfoliates the skin and leaves it clean, smooth and refreshed and the scent is just ahh-mazing! But the fact that it starts foaming up and produces so much lather just does not work for me. Also, it takes me quite some time and effort to remove the product completely. In addition, I did not find any noticeable reduction in the blackheads either!

All in all, if you don’t mind the foaming aspect, you can definitely give it a try, but this was a total miss for me!

  2. Hi Cynthia,

This scrub definitely does a great job of exfoliating and removing dead cells. It will help in making your knuckles smooth and clean, but I don’t think it will be much effective in removing darkness as such. Hope this helps!

  3. The sugar scrub is meant for your body and not your face, that’s why they are face scrubs specifically for your face. Thanks for the write up.
I used the product when I had chicken pox and it cleared the spots and you won’t know I had chicken pox.
    Thank you again
