What Is All The Hype About: Plum Green Tea Clear Face Mask Review!

Skin type: Normal to dry

Hey there!

Today I am going to review a very popular product from the house of Plum Goodness, that is the Green Tea Clear Face Mask! I had heard such raving reviews; that in spite of having normal to dry skin, I went ahead and bought it. I really wanted to try it out for myself and see what all the hype is about. So without further ado, let’s get started and see how was my experience with this one! Keep reading…

What The Brand Claims: No mean mask! Acne-prone skin needs multi-dimensional care- to cleanse, soothe, control acne, prevent recurrence, and to do all of this gently- phew! No mean mask, this.

Oxidation of skin-produced sebum leads to acne. Green tea extracts are known anti-oxidants. Clays absorb excess oil and weed out dead skin, helped by glycolic acid.

A Note From The Brand: You are likely to experience a slight tingling sensation on your skin for the first few minutes after application- this is entirely normal for bentonite clay masks; as they get to work removing the grime and dead cells from your skin.

Directions To Use: Gently apply a thin layer over all areas of the face, taking care not to let the product enter your eyes. Wait for about 30 minutes or until the mask dries completely, and wash off with plain water. Do not scrub face with towel, gently pat dry. Use a gentle moisturizer to seal in the goodness of ingredients. Use once a week. Do not exceed recommended frequency.

Ingredient List:

Packaging: The face mask comes in a square cardboard box, inside which there is a bulky glass jar. The jar has a white plastic covering that needs to be removed in order to use the product. All the important details such as directions to use, MRP, manufacturing date, use before date and ingredient list are mentioned in detail, which is great! Overall, the packaging could definitely have been better! It is quite bulky and certainly not travel friendly and one needs to be careful while handling the glass jar.

My Experience With The Product: Plum Green Tea Clear Face Mask has a smooth and creamy texture and spreads effortlessly on the skin. However, as soon as it is applied on the face, there is a prominent tingling sensation, which I just don’t like! Even though it disappears within a minute or two, why would I like to put anything on my face that causes irritation! Anyways, as mentioned above, according to the brand, this is actually because of the presence of bentonite clay that works to remove impurities from the skin. You do need a good amount of product to cover the face and neck, especially if you like to apply a thick layer of the mask.

Once I apply the mask on my face, I leave it on for about 15 minutes. It dries down quickly and the best part is that it does not crack or become stiff at all, which is great. I then wash it off with plain water and pat dry using a towel. Rinsing it off is also quick and fuss-free and it easily comes off in one go without leaving behind any residue. Even though I have normal to dry skin, this mask did not leave it parched or stretchy, which is quite impressive. However, I always do follow up with a moisturizer.

My skin feels squeaky clean, soft and refreshed after every use. The mask has a mild herbal scent that I really like, but it does not linger on for long. I feel this would work best for those with combination to oily skin and is especially great for summers. However, if you have sensitive skin, it is better to avoid this product, as this mask broke me out a bit!

PS: I strongly recommend to do a patch test first before applying this mask on your face in order to see if it suits your skin.

Rating: B-

Final Thoughts: To sum up, I would say that this mask would work best for those with combination to oily skin and I would strongly recommend to do a patch test first. The texture is smooth and creamy and applies easily on the face. It dries down quickly and is easy to rinse off as well. It leaves the skin thoroughly clean, refreshed and smooth and is free from parabens too.

However, personally, it did not work for me at all! First of all, the packaging is quite bulky and not travel friendly. Next, it did not suit my skin and in fact, broke me out a little! I just do not like the tingling sensation I experience as soon as I apply it on my face. In addition, the quantity is very less and gets consumed quickly. I feel it is definitely overpriced and did not do anything major for my skin. All in all, I would certainly not repurchase this as I found it too strong a product for my normal to dry skin.

Till next time,
